Dual N-Back App Reviews

Rough update

Enjoy the game and training aspect, but do not like the new color scheme and the cartoonish design.

Agree. DONT Update.

This update makes for a childish appearing (including a cartoonish hard to read font), overly simplified, and advertisement filled game rather than a real brain trainer. I was VERY disappointed after reading about the "ground up" redesign, thinking there would be more control to customize it. Instead the settings give the user only one option. You cant even set the N back level. IMO, some useful user defined settings would be: toggle "in game feedback" to on or off; ability to set the N back level to manual adjust. And some more advanced options (to reduce boredom while training) would be to offer the option to speed up the pace; a "classic" look option; a choice to lengthen the duration of each exercise; possibly change voices to male or female; reverse the audio and visual buttons (to make it consistent with other n-back trainers the user may own), Etc. Keep trying guys.

Upgrade terrible

The upgrade is awful. Childish and laden with ads. Was better before, in its simpler, cleaner form.

Abominable "Upgrade"

What did they do to a decent app? Deleting...

Annoying

I agree with the other reviews. The game functions but the UI is awful and the adds are extremely annoying.

Bad Update

Hate the new update. Very cartoonish.

Robin

I was a very happy user for two years before the UI change. You couldnt pay to use it now - seriously!

Agreed. Please change it back.

Please.

Awful upgrade

Old version was five stars. This gets 0.

Ruined the app with the update.

A perfect way to ruin a perfectly usable app via a new update. The graphics are childish and toonish and I specially hate the long loading time. This is an activity that you want to quickly get a go at. Why then force you to see a 20 second intro?

I feel the same

Look elsewhere

Ads are now very disruptive. Best to look elsewhere.

Just what I need

The guy below me says ads are disruptive not sure what he means tbh Ive had this app for a month or so Im on lvl 4 and occasionally get to 5 from time to time. youll get discouraged a lot but the statistics are there to remind you youre always improving

Excellent!

Very challenging!

Promising but needs basic improvements

Need a way to select a level and stay at that level. And more importantly need immediate feedback when a button press is correct or not. Otherwise cant learn from our mistakes. And tap sound is weak and lags

Good attempt, best in many ways

Levels are not selectable and automatically increase. This is a design flaw as it appears to presume mastering of N-1 in a single day.

Exactly as in the scientific research

An excellent app designed to change levels just as the original researcher designed the experiment.

Perhaps its just me but...

The Ls and Os just sound much too similar for my liking. If this app had clearer audio it would be 5 stars for me.

Sound Does Not Work!!!

The download page for this app said it would work on an iPhone 5. Well, thats what Im using and--surprise! The sound doesnt work on my phone, and apparently not on iPads either from what I read in another review. Sounds are important for this game to do what its supposed to do! Requesting a refund ASAP.

Very minimalist and pleasing to the eye

Unlike a lot of similar apps whether mobile or computer based, this one is bare bones and is fantastic for it. Disregard the reviews complaining for lack of instant correction and inability to choose the level. Those are features, not lack thereof if you look at the research and ideas behind it. Both prevent the brain from adapting and continue to challenge it.
